Day 1. To Bundanoon

Sunday March 21st, 2021.

Left home around 10.30am, only slightly behind schedule. Weather isn’t good, lots of rain, but not as much as yesterday. Headed down the Hume and turned off at the Mittagong exit. Stopped for lunch and then continued on.

Bundanoon Lodge is our home for the next 2 days, and it’s really nice. Breakfast is included and when we arrive, we have the place to ourselves. Our key is on the bench and we find our room and settle in. Not wanting to waste any time, even though it’s still sprinkly rain, we drive to Echo Point, which on a good day, would be fantastic. The gorge is full of mist today so we wait, hopeful of a brief break, but it’s not to be.

On the upside, Trevor spots a wallaby and her joey, feeding quite close to the track and not at all bothered by us being there.

Fairy Bower Falls is down a steep track, so not a good day for it. Sunrise Point, further around has a very good view across a narrow gorge and there are 2 waterfalls clearly visible.

Back to our accomm to prepare for dinner at Bottega B, an Italian restaurant in the main street. Delish! And not open tomorrow night, so it had to be tonight.

Burrata with figs

Chicken tenderloin in fig and cherry sauce

Pasta but I can't remember which

Pannacotta with figs
